Fairway Turf Loss

Overall the course overwintered great. However, we have some turf loss in some fairways on the property this year. Last year was much worse, combined with the pandemic took us much longer than we had hoped to heal in 2020.

This year we have acted quickly to rectify these areas. Each area has been core aerified numerous times, seeded 3 ways and topdressed with a sand and compost blend to create a new seed bed for the turf. Fertilizer applications will be timely and consistent to push the new plants so it fills in quicker.

Turf loss came from early snows that turned into ice in the middle of winter. You will see the dead areas in low spots that could not drain and are located on the northside of trees. As ice formed, it suffocated the turf below.

Every turf cover we own is on the ground now to assist with raising soil temperatures to promote new growth. The covers will be monitored daily and moved as necessary to help recover other areas as needed.

We ask golfers to stay away from these areas as much as possible so they can heal. They will be marked as Ground Under Repair and players are allowed a free drop.

Warm days are ahead and these areas will rebound soon.
