Splash Bar Update

Things are coming along nicely with the new Splash Bar at the pool. Over the past month, the grounds staff along with electricians, plumbers and the concrete contractor all put together the utilities and concrete pad before winter.

The grounds staff (John in particular) dug each trench to supply the building with water, power, sewer and communication. Each trench had to be dug by hand due the myriad of other utilities in the ground surrounding this area. We have the main waterline to the club, natural gas, fiber optic and sewer for the snack bar. Power and water supply for the pool, including existing irrigation to the turf was also in the mix.

Once the trenches were complete, excavation for the pad began. The pad is a 19' x 22' rectangle in the northeast corner of the pool. The open air building is much smaller and allows for members to sit on chairs at the bar. This location allows golfers to access the bar as well.

Once all of the plumbing for electrical, water, sewer were ready, final preparation for concrete was performed and the pad was poured. The weather was perfect for pouring and the crew did an excellent job. It has a light broom finish for traction but not too rough on bare feet.

Now that the concrete is complete, the grounds staff is busy installing drainage around the pad and backfilling the surrounding areas.

Once all of the backfilling is completed we can begin with determining the final fence location. Installing irrigation will be helpful too prior to the ground freezing.

The building will be installed in the New Year and will be ready to open for the new pool season in 2021.
