Cart Traffic

Thanks to Covid-19, rounds of golf are up. But for the turf the additional traffic stress can be lethal.

There are many decent areas of cart path, yet time and time again we all see golfers parking in the grass off the cart path.

I do not understand this practice. It happens all the time and it is not just a Pinehurst issue.

These cart paths do not have curbs which make it hard to pass. They do not incur a tremendous amount of traffic where the golfer needs to allow others to pass. Who is passing you on the golf course? Seriously? It's not other golfers. The beverage cart is stationary. If it wasn't stationary most golfers wouldn't let them pass anyway.

The only ones passing you on the golf course are the very people who are out there to clean up your mess or heal your cart damage, the grounds crew. Golfers always have the right of way and our equipment is far better prepared to drive on the turf.

STAY ON THE CART PATH!

Is shade the issue? Fortunately these carts have tops on them. Plus many areas of cart paths are shaded too. We want you to enjoy your round, but the golfer has a responsibility to assist with maintaining the course too.

Rounds of golf are way up everywhere in the world which is wonderful. Please do your part to help continue to make the golf course a wonderful place.

It has been a difficult summer with the lack of water and high heat. Cart traffic relates to 90% of the turf stress on the golf course. Thank you for your cooperation.
