Early July Water Update

The Bear Creek gauge and head gate for our creek water are located in Morrison. This graph tells us how much water is in the creek.

As you can see creek levels are 1/8th of our historical average. Yesterday the Warrior Ditch (Which provides 2/3rds of our irrigation water) began with restrictions. The ditch as of today is running at 95%. This doesn't change our water picture too much. Fortunately the Warrior Ditch has the greatest rights to water in Bear Creek.

We have been on storage water since early June to assist with the remaining 1/3rd of our water needs for all 220 acres. Certainly timely rainfall will help with river levels for the remainder of the growing season. If Bear Creek continues to drop further, so will the Warrior Ditch.

As restrictions get tighter we have a couple of options to manage the ditch with other shareholders. Colorado Academy, The Homestead and Foothills Golf Courses also rely on the Warrior Ditch for irrigation water. Worst case scenario for us is that the perimeter of the club grounds and areas out of the way from play will be cut first. The upside is that with continued warm and dry weather the golf course will play better under firmer and faster conditions.

Let's hope for some more timely rains.
