Water Update

Ready for some good news!?

We have another great water year ahead of us. Here is the snowpack map as of yesterday. The low temperatures we have seen through most of April have been great as far as snowmelt is concerned.

It is always best for a slow spring melting process to maximize our streamflow rights. Pinehurst has a lot invested in streamflow rights. As long as Bear Creek remains fruitful, Pinehurst will have a great spring and summer in regards to water availability. This website I refer to often to gauge streamflows on Bear Creek. Usually Bear Creek peaks in May or early June. Being on the later side of April and the flows have yet to really climb is a great sign for us for some later high flows.

The benefit to a long, fruitful run off in Bear Creek allows us to put off using our storage water for irrigation. Our storage water is great, but sometimes dry years can lead to rationing water and the edges of the property will have to go dormant. It doesn't look like 2020 will be a year for that.

We have been able to tackle some important ditch maintenance this off season and we are expecting a good solid water year for 2020.
