16 Drainage

The wet area between 16 approach and 17 tee has been on our list for some time. Now that the snow has subsided it was time to address the area.

The crew started with a nice 12" by 40" trench. The end of the drain goes close to the road. We couldn't get to the street due to a  city gas line, but it ends far enough away from the green surround.

The bottom half of the trench contains a solid pipe to carry the water away from where the water collects.

The top half of the trench will have a perforated pipe and the trench will be back filled with pea gravel. This allows the water to percolate through the profile where it usually collects and drop into the drain pipe.

We are installing a few clean out locations to flush away any soil or silt that makes its way into the pipe. We have removed an old failed drain from the area as well.

The sod is cut first and moved to the side of the area. Plywood is used to protect the existing turf and hold the backfill in place until it is time to fill the trench.

Once the pipe is in place we will backfill over the pipe. A tamper is used to compact the native soil and then we replace the sod when the sub-grade material is ready.

We expect to be done by the end of the week so we can move to the next project at 11 tee.
