Driving Range Bunkers

The new bunkers on the driving range are certainly unique and look fantastic. We used a product called Durabunker for the edge. The main reason for this use is for maintenance purposes. Bunker banks in this climate take on a lot of stress in the summer and even the winter from the sun. Since this is not an area the staff can manage frequently we decided to go with the artificial edge, but it still gives the natural look, especially at 150 yards away.

This style will most likely not be done on the golf course as it does not fit with the Maxwell style. The downside to the these bunkers is that they can be very difficult to hit from which can slow play down quite significantly.

Sod was completed around the bunkers yesterday. The liner and sand will be installed soon. As you can tell there is still plenty of seeding and repair work to the turf surrounding the area. Now is a prime time to start seeding and promote some new growth. It will take about a month to heal in properly.
