Attacking Bentgrass

A couple of weeks ago we began an herbicide program on the Pfluger course to rid tees and approaches of invasive bentgrass and some broadleaf weeds. Bentgrass is desired on greens, but on tees and approaches, these old varieties are just not suitable for top playing conditions. This product is very safe and it disrupts the process of photosynthesis in the bentgrass plant which is why it turns white. It is a slow process but very effective.

You will notice patches of bentgrass starting to die off this month. Some blue or ryegrass may be temporarily bleached within that stand but will begin to thrive this fall. We are also interseeding with more ryegrass seed. By fall we are looking forward to healthy and consistent tees and approaches.
