The Winter Season

The winter season is upon us. The next few days are showing signs of warmer weather. As you can see some of the snow settles in longer than other areas. The 12th green is heavily shaded with trees which slows snow melt. We have to be very careful of shoveling snow off putting greens since the turf is not actively growing and damage does not heal until spring.

When playing golf in the winter it is important to continue to fix ball marks. When soils warm and the surface softens ball marks can easily occur. If they are not repaired immediately they freeze that night and become very difficult to repair the next day. Repairing ball marks is a courtesy for all golfers for top putting conditions.
