Oxygen and Water

With the dry and hot weather upon us it is time to mechanically treat soils again.

Farmers are the best at getting oxygen into the soil by tilling their fields. But in golf, we do not have that option.

Venting to allow channels for oxygen and to improve water infiltration into the soil is critical. As the soils begin to firm up, pore spaces for oxygen and water can close up as well.

Continuous venting through the season, conditions the soils to maintain proper soil, oxygen and water levels for healthy turf.

The best part of this practice is that the golf course is playable immediately after we spike the turf.
