Native Maintenance

Now that the club championships are coming to a close, we will be mowing the natives around the property. This allows us to clean them up and attack any weeds in these areas.

Now that days are getting shorter, these fescues and grasses can recover and strengthen before winter dormancy.

These water saving areas provide a lot if natural beauty to the property. They always require some maintenance. Mowing allows the seed heads from the grasses to compete against weed activity.

We have begun with the Pfluger this week, leaving the wildflowers alone. Once the Women's Championship is complete we will turn to the Maxwell Course native areas. We mow these areas a few times annually. They save about 5% of our irrigation water which averages out to almost 6 million gallons of water annually.
