The 15th tee is being tilled up this week. If you have been paying attention to the blog, you know how much of a fan I am with tilling soil whenever we get the opportunity. The benefits with loosening soil, relieving compaction, creating gas exchange are endless.
We also till the soil to allow for soil movement as we begin shaping the new tee. This is not the large project that was being investigated a number years ago to lengthen the hole. We are simply leveling the tee, eliminating the runway appearance and splitting the large tee into smaller tees.
You will also notice the cover on the 17th tee. Last fall we sodded this tee after leveling. During the winter, roots do not have the opportunity to take hold to the soil. Covering the sod will quicken the process and help open the tee sooner.
