Current Conditions

During the mid-winter thaw of January the golf course is holding up well. We have experienced some timely snows that have helped keep the crowns of the plant damp enough during dry spells. Also, our compost applications in the fall are key to dealing with dry stretches by keeping moisture in the upper soil profile. This week we had to water south facing slopes and new sod with the recent warm, dry weather.

As you can see in this picture, our winter plant protectant application still remains. It consisted of a green pigment that enhances the plant and uses its natural defenses to fight winter stress. The darker green color also helps attract the sun and keep the surface warmer.

Snow is in the forecast which will help with moisture levels. If it's going to be cold, there may as well be snow on the ground.
