It is that time of year that we aerify fairways. Healing time is quick this time of year with exceptional temperatures and soil moisture.
We will attack a couple of fairways each day to minimize impact to golfers. There will be a notice on the first tee and in the golf shop on which holes will be affected each day. If you do play through a hole while it is being aerified, please play to the lift, clean and place rule.
Once the cores are on the surface we chop them up with a retired mower to return the soil into the holes. Then we follow up with removing the thatch and organic build up. Healing will take a couple of weeks. Topdressing fairways will begin in mid-October.
With a couple of tournaments next week, we will take a break from fairways and focus on bunker and cart path surrounds next week. Of course rough mowing and leaf clean up continue to be a priority as well.
