Irrigation Break

Yesterday morning we came in to find a break in the irrigation system that was leaking through the asphalt outside the golf shop. It doesn't look all that bad, but anything under a hard surface is never good.

After a few hours of digging we finally found the pin hole leak in the old corroded metal pipe. This is from the clubhouse irrigation system that has never been replaced since its inception. The club renovated the irrigation systems to the Pfluger and Maxwell Courses over the last decade, which is the reason we have been able to survive drought conditions. But the clubhouse irrigation remains the same from the start of the club. Some band-aids have been made over the years but there are some majors flaws that need to be corrected.

That small pin hole leak caused this kind of interruption. Currently we are in the design phase of a new system around the clubhouse. Soon we will have a plan to renovate all of the club house irrigation. There are many gaps in spacing, lack of computer control, aging pipes like this above and the grass and general appearance around the clubhouse and tennis areas have suffered for years. This is just an example of what we deal with and the most unfortunate part is that it leads to wasting water.
