Attention to Details

Now that the weather has cooled some we are focusing on some details with irrigation. It is time to update nozzles after a decade of wear stress.
Here on the 9th hole we are putting new nozzles in the fairway. You can see from the photo below the various patterns of moisture in the turf. Consistency is the goal. The advantage to our sprinkler heads is that there are a myriad of nozzle selections to choose from. The challenge is finding the right combination. Sprinklers have anywhere from 2-5 nozzles per head. Each head throws  up to 75 feet.

There are various factors to balance out when choosing nozzles. Slope, soil, orientation to the sun, traffic patterns and grass selection are the main factors to consider. Irrigation heads are purchased with stock nozzles, but golf courses are not maintained in a controlled setting. It is up to us to determine the correct output for each location.
