Slow Going

Our soil sensors explain why growth has been slow going this spring. Sure, we are getting plenty of moisture now, but moisture is only one part of the process. Plants need oxygen and sunlight and most of all, soil temperatures need to be warm enough to create microbial activity to provide food for the plants to eat.

The graph above shows the soil temperatures over the past 10 days. We are seeing upwards of 25 degree swings with not much time at their peak temperatures. Once soil temperatures can be maintained in the upper 50's and into the 60's we will begin to see mowers out in full force.

Getting sod down during the snow
The extended winter has people on edge waiting for the season to begin, but it will come. This is the beauty of Mother Nature. It had been such a dry winter, now she is making up for lost time. The day was not lost for us. We were able to focus on a number of sod projects, tree trimming and we even started a new flower bed at the clubhouse.
