Open With Restrictions

Walkers only. The weather is perfect right now for golf, but it is January. This winter has been nothing short of dry. We have seen about 8 inches of snow since November, which is below average for Denver. It has been slow to melt due to the shorter days and cold temperatures and it has provided little moisture at best.

Without significant moisture we are forced to keep golf carts off the course. Cart traffic increases wear stress to the turf which will end up being far more costly later in the season. Moisture is beneficial to keep the crown (heart of the plant) of the turf plants alive through the winter months. The crown sits just above the soil and is exposed to the elements. Other ways to help protect the crown through the winter is to sand top dress heavily and/or leave the plant leaves longer in the fall to help physically protect the plant and store carbohydrates.

Enjoy the great weather and a good walk. The staff is working to keep up with Mother Nature getting water out as much as possible. We greatly appreciate your support.
