Driving Range Care

The Pinehurst Golf and Grounds Staff is beginning a new player program to hitting golf balls on the range tee. The first picture is a classic example of our range tee. Scattered divots creates a longer heal time and maximizes the amount of damage to the tee.

Below is a study done by a colleague of mine that we are incorporating here at Pinehurst. As a player begins to hit golf balls on the range tee, place your ball behind the previous divot. This practice reduces the amount of grass removed with each swing. Spread the word around the tee to your fellow members. Continuing this practice will keep more grass on the tee through the season.
