Every golf course is subject to some kind of negative impact. Mother Nature can be the worst as we saw this weekend at Congressional.This week we had two different situations occur. Friday we experienced a small oil leak around 15 green. Once noticed the the mower was stopped immediately. The staff followed protocol and quickly began to remedy the situation. When an oil leak occurs, the heat of the oil is most damaging upon impact. The turf will die in this small area, but the surrounding turf, along with some new seeding, it should rebound soon.
The second incident is vandalism. There seems to be some minor damage happening to the Pfluger greens 2, 4 & 5. It appears that a vinegar substance is being dropped on the green and killing the grass. If you see any suspicious activity on the Pfluger please report it to the golf shop or grounds department immediately.
