Venting

Today was time to vent the greens. This piece of equipment is called the aerway. The spikes break up the soil profile and assist with oxygen entering the root zone and water percolation. Throughout the golf season, especially during dry periods, soils have a tendency to tighten up which make it difficult for root growth. Once a month, or whenever wet weather is on the horizon. It is a good practice to vent the soil to promote plant health and performance.Venting is followed by mowing and rolling to ensure a smooth putting surface for the day.
