Greens Aerification

Sunday night we began with a solid deep tine aerification on greens. The action on these tines help break up and fracture the sub-surface of the green. It opens up holes for oxygen, drainage and sand to penetrate through the profile.

Monday morning we followed up with quarter inch hollow tines and removed some of the organic matter at the surface.

Cleaning up the mess is actually a smooth process. We accomplished clean up on all Maxwell greens and approaches in one day.

Getting sand out before the snow was a priority. We used our material handler and dump truck to run sand to remote locations to prevent frequent trips back to the sand pile at the shop.

Even topdressing is critical as we place sand on the greens.

The last step is to drag the sand into all of the open holes, followed by a fertilizer application to encourage growth.
