Grassing Changes for Maxwell

In the next few weeks you will notice some changes to the Maxwell golf course.  We are altering some of the fairway and rough mowing lines around the golf course.

The changes will be in an effort to enhance the golf  courses risk/reward features, offer a higher shot value and variety as well as give the course an exciting new look.  The changes will include some fairway expansions, rough additions and strategic implementation of varied heights of grass around the greens.  A well designed green complex includes areas of rough to stop a ball in specific areas or discourage play in that part of the green.  Closely mowed areas around a green are used to funnel a ball away from the green into collection areas.

It is the intentions of the Greens Committee, the board and the staff that these changes will be embraced as enhancements to the golf course and help contribute to the memberships enjoyment on a daily basis.  This process has taken a long time to ensure that all of these changes achieve the desired goals on each hole for each specific golfers ability.

We are currently evaluating the Pfluger and will propose new ideas based on the progress on the Maxwell.  Pinehurst has two terrific golf courses that we hope with some subtle inexpensive changes each and every member can enjoy them even more.
