2016 Olympics

The golf world was a buzz yesterday as the IOC selected Hanse Golf Course Design, to design the course to host golf in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. First off, it is huge for the game of golf to be in the Olympics, the first time since 1904. It is truly is an international sport where many countries can compete. But secondly, this small firm out of Pennsylvania is now getting a chance at possibly the biggest stage in golf. What could be the greatest part of the project is that the golf course will be built as a public facility to grow the game of golf in Brazil!
Gil Hanse and his staff have been at it for almost 20 years with some new construction and a majority of  renovations and restoration projects to older courses, Denver Country Club being one of them. I am sure there were a lot of big names to choose from. Click here for a great article from golf writer Bradley Klein on more about Gil Hanse.
