73 inches of snow has fallen at Pinehurst Country Club since October. Which means only two days of golf has been played here since Halloween. After 61 years of data collection from the National Climatic Data Center, Denver averages 60.3 inches of snow annually.
The other day we cleared the nursery green using a snow blower. (DO NOT try this at home) So far the turf is looking good. No disease or ice build up.
We have sustained some very strong winds over the past few days, which really contributes to the amount of snow loss we have had lately. The temperatures have stayed cold which slows the formation of ice at the ground level and the wind takes off the snow from the top.
All in all the course is holding up really well as we are beginning the downward slope of winter and looking at spring.
