Fertilizer Burn

As you head out onto the golf course over the next few days you will notice some fairways have a spotted stripe down the middle. No it is not the disease of the month, rather a fertilizer burn that occurred last week.
The morning of my first day, we arrived at the shop to understand that the pump station had a low pressure discharge thus the fertilizer spread the day before was not watered in correctly. Fortunately, the organic fertilizer we used has a low burn potential which means the damage is less severe than most other fertilizers used in the golf industry.
Not to worry though, the turf will recover in these areas shortly. This recent fertilizer application will deliver proper nutrients to turf grass plants as the golf course prepares for the winter. The issue at the pump station was addressed as well.
