Buried Treasure

I have been snooping around the shop lately just getting to know the place and came across some old brush reels the other day. Brian (equipment manager) and I discussed how we could incorporate them into the operation.
He whipped them together and put them onto a greens mowing unit for a test drive today. We experimented with some sand topdressing procedures on the nursery green (left of 8 green). These brush reels can help save dollars and labor hours, while providing a better product on the course.
Sand topdressing is one of the most critical maintenance activities for optimum putting surfaces. I will explain more about this practice next week as we topdress greens throughout the course.
However, following any sand topdressing on the greens, the brush is used to pick up any sand particles that did not make it into the turf canopy. This process prevents dull mowing blades and saves Brian from added maintenance. It also provides a cleaner putting surface for the day.
